Footprints Genealogy and Research, LLC is headquartered in the Washington, DC suburbs and specializes in forensic genealogy… using genealogy to find living people… either through traditional genealogical research or the use of DNA analysis.
The majority of our cases fall under heir search work for intestate estates and other probate and asset cases.
Chief Forensic Genealogist, Adrianne McQuillan, is also a registered private investigator. Footprints Genealogy and Research, LLC is a licensed private investigations company and is fully insured.
"Over a decade ago I started helping individuals learn about the lives of their ancestors through genealogical research. With growing experience, I was drawn to the world of locating missing or unknown heirs in probate cases. Having researched over 300 probate cases, my job still never gets old.
"I take pride in presenting to clients an organized report detailing the results of the search for missing or unknown heirs. I offer outside the box thinking in chasing down records and evidence of familial connections."
Adrianne has had a life-long passion for family history so it was only natural to channel her experience in research and story-telling into a career in genealogy. When her own children were young, unraveling genealogical challenges and gaining more genealogical training were her intellectual outlets. She thrives off being able to uncover and share the life events of ancestors and identifying modern day relatives for her clients in an organized product.
Adrianne's personal ancestors have led her to research all over the Eastern United States, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Panama. Researching for clients has continued to broaden her geographic research experience where new adventures always await.
Adrianne has extensive experience working with genealogy DNA results and has helped numerous adoptees and donor-conceived individuals identify biological parents or family members.
Adrianne is bilingual (English and Spanish) having spent most of her summers with family in Latin America. She received two bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech, a master's degree from American University, and additional coursework through several other universities.
She is a member of several genealogical societies and a card holder for libraries all over the United States, the National Archives, and the Library of Congress. Her never-ending thirst for information keeps her endlessly motivated to provide the most complete and accurate research product she can for her clients.
"Your services were invaluable and Adrianne was fantastic. It pains me when those who give such value are not paid like those who give little value. My aunt’s estate is nothing and she lived in a home my father purchased in the 70s when he had nothing for his mother and siblings to get them out of Anacostia DC. I have been so disappointed (more like enlightened) through this journey as the administrator of my aunt’s “estate”, but the genealogical search has made the painstaking journey worth it all. My father, who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, would be well pleased with Ms. McQuillan’s efforts and value to help us close out my aunt’s estate."
